About

Meet Michelle Wolsky

Hi, I’m Michelle, an Expressive Arts Therapist working with youth and young adults who have experienced trauma and/or are neurodivergent.

I use expressive arts therapy as a gentle, creative, and relational approach to support healing, emotional expression, and personal growth. Through art, movement, music, writing, and imagination, clients are able to explore feelings, build self-awareness, and develop tools for navigating life with greater confidence and resilience.

My work supports the development of self-acceptance, healthy communication, emotional regulation, boundaries, attachment, and coping skills. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can move at their own pace and feel seen, heard, and empowered.

If you are a parent or caregiver of a youth or young adult who is struggling, expressive arts therapy can offer a meaningful and life-changing path toward healing and connection.

I Strive to Empower

As an Expressive Arts Therapist, I use a client-centered, trauma-informed approach and place great importance on building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship.

I believe our relationships with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us, are deeply interconnected. When one relationship begins to shift, it can positively influence the others. In our work together, I meet clients where they are and draw upon their strengths, interests, and natural creativity to support emotional regulation, coping skills, and resilience.

Expressive arts therapy offers a meaningful and engaging way to explore inner experiences and communicate what can be difficult to put into words. Through this process, clients often develop deeper self-understanding, stronger connections, and a greater sense of agency in their lives. My goal is to provide guidance and tools that help individuals recognize their own capacity for growth and positive change.

The Healing Power of the Arts

I believe we learn and heal best through creativity, play, and imagination. The creative process engages the brain differently than logical, everyday thinking, opening space for flexibility, insight, and new ways of seeing challenges.

During art-making, many people experience a sense of flow; time softens, self-judgment quiets, and attention shifts inward. This state can be deeply regulating and restorative, similar to meditation. Creative expression supports emotional regulation, can ease symptoms of depression and stress, and helps individuals reconnect with themselves in a gentle and accessible way.

Through the arts, we can begin to make sense of difficult experiences, find meaning in our stories, and transform them with compassion and hope.

Each client’s journey is unique, and the process unfolds at their own pace.

My Professional Background

I have over 16 years of experience working in social services, supporting a wide range of populations including at-risk youth and their families, neurodivergent individuals, adults with medical challenges, and people experiencing chronic homelessness.

Guided by a deep passion for empowering youth and families through creative expression, I earned my master’s degree in expressive arts therapy with a minor in psychology. I have over six years of experience facilitating expressive arts with youth who have experienced trauma, including foster youth and neurodivergent communities.

I lived in the Costa Rican rainforest for ten years and am fluent in Spanish. During that time, I developed a strong appreciation for recycled and nature-based art. I enjoy incorporating recyclable and found materials into my work whenever possible, as they encourage creativity, resourcefulness, environmental awareness, and resilience.

Above all, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel inspired, connected, and free to create in meaningful ways.

A Little More About Me

From personal experience, I know that being a parent or caregiver (especially to a child with higher needs) is one of the most challenging and meaningful roles we hold. Our children need our love, patience, and support as they navigate a world that can be both beautiful and overwhelming.

My life experiences and professional background have shaped my belief that healing is possible for everyone. With the right support, guidance, and space, individuals can move through past wounds and create more balance, connection, and well-being in their lives.

Outside of my work, I enjoy playing the djembe, dancing salsa and bachata, and spending time in nature through hiking and gardening. I value living in harmony with the environment and strive to maintain a health-conscious and eco-friendly lifestyle; values that naturally inform both my personal life and my therapeutic work.
